6 Tips on How to Avoid Making Unnecessary Touch-Ups
Dr. Cardona 5 commentsTraditionally we guarantee our work and offer a touch up 4-6 weeks after the permanent makeup procedure. It’s fine if we need to do a small touch up here and there, but when we have to do more, it’s not beneficial to the client, because it involves their time and yours.
You could save time and money from first interaction with your clients taking into consideration the following 6 tips:
- Have a good communication with your client
- Don’t get influenced by your client
- Implant the color/pigment properly
- Do the touch up during the same session
- Make sure your client follows the instructions
- Set an appointment for follow-up, not for a touch-up
The SofTap technique has the advantage that it does not generate much trauma and therefore the inflammation is much smaller, which allows a better implantation of the pigment, however, there are times we might make unnecessary touch-ups.
Here are 6 tips in detail on how to avoid them:
1. Have a good communication with your client
On one occasion I attended a person who wanted a Soft Eyeliner with a brown color and that looked as natural as possible. For this, I made an eyelash enhancement and applied the color Cafe Olé.
A month later she returned for the touchup saying that she wanted the eyeliner thicker and darker. I made a thicker eyeliner and applied the color Earth. A month later, I received a call from her saying that she wanted a new touch-up because she wanted the eyeliner even thicker and darker. At that moment I used Mahogany and made a really thick eyeliner.
I was not happy and talked to her explaining that what she had asked me initially was something very soft and natural and what I had done that day was something that I did not consider soft and natural, and she answered: This is what I wanted. If you don't want to go through situations like this, it’s important that you understand what your customer wants and what is the best effect for her.
On the other hand, you need to properly explain the difference between the effects that you offer: Individual hair strokes vs. Eyebrow Shading vs. Solid Eyebrows, and Eyelash Enhancement vs. Thin-Eyeliner vs. Thick-Eyeliner.
2. Don’t get influenced by your client
3. Implant the color properly
4. Do the touch up during the same session
5. Make sure your client follows the instructions
6. Set an appointment for follow-up, not for a touch-up
- Follow up 4-6 weeks after the procedure.
- At this point, you can establish whether or not it is necessary to perform a touch-up.
- When you make a touch-up appointment for your client, she hopes that you will do it on that date. If you decide not to, she will not be satisfied because she hopes that you will keep your word.
